We are a collaborative studio led by Clare Venables, a visual artist with an art history and humanities background. With a strong emphasis on drawing, painting and printmaking, Clare captures the psychological intensity of the seen and raw emotion of the experienced. Confronting the unvarnished realities of what it is to be human, dark narratives are also often riveted in a belief in resilience.

 

Her work depicts timeless subjects that could have been captured then or now. 

 

Clare is primarily interested in expressing fears and fantasies rooted in the human condition and the subjects allude to time and place. The work is rooted in a sense of the unfamiliar evoked within a familiar setting. Often ethereal, with a sense of the uncanny.
